The Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. has developed the "Anti-freeze pipe Aquarex - F (Type: AQX-F)" used for aerial pipes in transportation of fluids at cold regions, mountains, bridges or plants, and started selling the product. The anti-freeze effect is about 6 times conventional polyethylene pipes and is 20 times or more steel pipes. Since polyethylene materials are used for outer pipe, insulation layer and inner pipe, it is light and environment friendly. In August, we delivered the first product for "No. 4 project of new wild life road construction" ordered by the Echigo Hillside National Government Park Office, Hokuriku Regional Development Bureau, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport

Background of development
In addition to Aquarex - L (steel reinforced polyethylene pipe), long pipe for fluid transportation which has been already sold, we newly developed Aquarex - F in the product lineup with excellent anti-freeze function for pipes along bridges or plant aerial pipes in cold regions.
Features and specifications of product
- Two types of products are available for the maximum allowable pressure; "FN" with 0.8 MPa (Note 1) and "FL" with 1.1 MPa (Note 1).
- 2 The product is light since metal pipes are not used.
- The insulation layer uses polyethylene foam for anti-freeze.
- The standard length is 40 m to 50 m which is long. The number of connections is limited and saves connecting work. This can reduce the labor cost and time for installation.
- It is flexible and resistant to pressure. Excellent performance can be shown for ground settlement.
Note 1: Pressure unit 1kgf/cm2 = 0.098MPa
