November 6, 2002, Asahi Shimbun reported that Furukawa Electric was going to withdraw from volume production of optical fiber in the U.S. Furukawa would like to notify that this is an erroneous report and that Furukawa is not going to change our optical fiber production in OFS, which is a Furukawa's affiliated company in the U.S for optical fiber production.
Furukawa is in the course of integrating its optical fiber production sites into the Mie Works and OFS, and yet Furukawa will continue optical fiber cable production in the Chiba Works, which is defined as a development base for optical fiber.
