Happy New Year!
Last year we acquired OFS of Lucent Technologies towards ensuring our business survival. With its high name recognition and technology known worldwide, OFS will certainly develop into a credible business partner for us, thereby bringing about a bright future for our company. Hereafter, Furukawa Electric and OFS are in the same boat acting with one heart and mind accordingly, we have to collaborate closely to grow up into a company that can gain a lead in the field of fiber optics and related industries.
Thus, we are just at the starting block of a new era in the company's operations. Moreover, the business environment is anticipated to be very severe this year. I would like to ask all company members to follow the guidelines as shown below;
- Work to the full extent of your capabilities with a keen awareness of the importance of your role and behavior.
- Confidently do your job with trust and respect for your colleagues.
- Be prudent in your work; meet your commitments; and stay active.
- Always keep in your mind the gain and loss together with the cash flow of the company while you are engaged in your daily activities.
Full implementation of broadband data communication is approaching. When we overcome the difficulties foreseen for this year, we will be able to have brighter prospects for the year 2003.
I think Furukawa Electric should continue to make improvements, in this age of globalization, to become one of the excellent firms that attract worldwide attention.
