Results of operations in fiscal 2011

Consolidated sales in the segment of Electronics and Automotive Systems increased 18.3% year on year, to 209.6 billion yen, as a result of strong sales of automotive wire harnesses and auto parts throughout the fiscal year, in addition to growth in demand for magnet wires for smartphones. Furukawa Magnet Wire Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the Company that took over the magnet wire business of the Company and Riken Electric Wire Co., Ltd. in April last year, contributed to the higher sales and profit through cost cutting as well as the synergies from the integration of its business with the magnet wire business transferred from Totoku Electric Co., Ltd. in October 2009.
