Furukawa Electric held, on October 9, at InterContinental Hotel Bangkok in Bangkok, Thailand, “FURUKAWA ELECTRIC FAIR 2009 in Thailand,” which was the first group-wide overseas technology exhibition.
Background
As the domestic market sees sluggish growth, Furukawa Electric considers that improvement of the overseas sales ratio is necessary in order to expand the company's trading sphere in the future. Accordingly, the Furukawa Electric Group plans to broaden abroad the technology exhibitions that the group has been presenting domestically, with the aim of accelerating the development of overseas markets. And the first exhibition of this kind was held in Bangkok in Thailand.

The exhibition was held with the intention of advancing Furukawa Group's presence in Thailand. The exhibition comprised 44 panel-based exhibitions of products and technologies presented by 20 group companies consisting of 15 local corporations located in Thailand and some affiliated companies in Southeast Asia, along with three technology presentations including next-generation wire harnesses for automobiles, foamed resin products and lead storage batteries.
Visitors to the exhibition exceeded 300 in number, and they were from diversified customer groups such as electronics, automobiles, general constructors, telecommunications carriers, trading firms and banks. In terms of articles on exhibition, a wide variety of exhibits captured visitors' interest including those of lead storage batteries, wire harnesses for automobiles, copper pipe for heat exchangers and foamed resin products.
Future Plan
We intend to organize technology exhibitions at various cities across the world in turn in China, India and Europe, as part of our marketing activities targeted at each business area overseas.
