OFS Announces EZ-Bend® InvisiLight™ Optical Solution for Nearly Invisible Fiber in the Home
~ Can increase take-rates and speed deployment ~

February 14, 2012

Munich, Germany, February 14, 2012 - OFS, a leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of innovative fiber optic network solutions, today announced the launch of its EZ-Bend® InvisiLight™ Optical Solution, offering virtually invisible, faster fiber routing inside homes and MDUs.

"The OFS EZ-Bend InvisiLight Optical Solution enables customers nearly invisible, fast, plug and play fiber in the home to connect FTTH services to subscribers," said John George, Director, OFS Global Technical Marketing. "For service providers, this solution improves both sides of the business case equation: Its virtual invisibility helps increase customer acceptance and revenues, and the roll-on installation process, auto-slack storage, and plug and play connectors speed deployment to help reduce costs."

FTTH providers are now deploying compact Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) deep into subscriber´s homes to facilitate in-home networking. However, some customers cancel service orders once they learn the installation requires unsightly conventional optical cables. Routing fiber behind walls is an option, but this is a slow and expensive installation unless behind the wall ducts are already in place and accessible.

The EZ-Bend InvisiLight Optical Solution solves this challenge with a 1 mm diameter optical micro-cord that blends seamlessly with the interior décor. The installer uses a simple process to roll and adhere the micro-cord into grooves between ceilings and walls, walls and moldings, corners between walls, or directly on moldings. OFS´ EZ-Bend fiber enables this solution to conform to the contours and many corners in a residence with negligible signal loss.

In field trials the typical customer response has been, "It´s amazing – I cannot see it!" while installers have stated, "This saves customer subscriptions that we would have lost otherwise." In other cases where conduits were in place but access blocked by large furniture or appliances, a large carrier stated, "This product was used when no other solution could work to service our customer. It solves one of our key installation challenges."

The EZ-Bend InvisiLight Optical Solution is being presented at the FTTH conference in Munich 15-16 February at OFS´ Gold Sponsorship stand, G7, and will be generally available in June of 2012
