The heart of our research activities
Yokohama R&D Laboratories is a key center of Furukawa's research and development activities. The role of this facility is to reinforce basic technologies supporting the company while researching and developing leading-edge technologies that will form the core of next-generation businesses. The laboratories also engage in cross-discipline, elemental technology research in collaboration with other research institutes.
Message from the Manager
Our main research areas include: 1) optical semiconductors, primarily for next-generation semiconductor lasers; 2) GaN semiconductors centered on next-generation power devices; 3) new materials utilizing nanostructure control of metals, both organic and inorganic; and 4) analytic technology focused mainly on simulations as well as chemical and physical analyses. Yokohama R&D Laboratories has turned out many new products in the past and will continue to play an extremely active role toward creating new businesses that will form the backbone of the future Furukawa Electric.
