Abstract
As multi-media fields develop, metro/access networks are required to allow for flexible configuration changes as well as higher capacity and speed. An optical network configuration that integrates optical add/drop multiplexers (OADMs) with wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) system began to be introduced in these networks for its suitability. The authors have developed OADMs to be used in metro/access networks, which are capable of dealing with one to several channels arbitrarily selected.
