Chosen for the First Time as a Nadeshiko Brand in FY2017

As a company that has been outstanding in encouraging the empowerment of women, Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. was chosen for the Nadeshiko Brand initiative, a joint initiative organized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE).

Background

The Nadeshiko Brand initiative is a joint initiative organized by METI and TSE to publicize those listed companies that have been outstanding in encouraging the empowerment of women as attractive stocks for investors who place importance on the growth of corporate value over the mid- to long-term. The initiative was launched in FY2012 as a way of promoting investment in selected companies and accelerating these types of initiatives among listed companies.
Selection takes place in two stages based on the rate of participation by women and financial indicators. One to four companies are chosen from each industry.

As a company that has been outstanding in encouraging the empowerment of women, Furukawa Electric was recently chosen for the FY2017 Nadeshiko Brand, a joint initiative organized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE). This is the first time Furukawa Electric has received Nadeshiko Brand acknowledgement.
Having stated one of our Management Philosophies as ‘Nurturing human resources at every level so that we can become a more diverse and creative organization,’ Furukawa Electric has continued to focus on creating a comfortable working environment for women and promoting work-life balance since FY2005.
