Positioning efforts towards information security as an important issue in management, Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. and the Furukawa Electric Group shall establish systems for the appropriate use and protection of the information assets that the companies possess and systems that prevent the infringement of rights related to the information assets of third parties, and formulate “Basic Regulations on Information Security,” which all employees, etc.,(note 1) shall observe, to contribute to increases in the corporate value of the Furukawa Electric Group and maintain the Group’s social credibility.

Basic Policy

Employees, etc.(note 1) shall implement information security measures based on the following Basic Policy.

  1. Employees, etc., shall strive for the securement of the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information, and implement management measures in accordance with the size and type of risk to protect information assets from wide-ranging threats.
  2. Employees, etc., shall observe laws, regulations, guidelines, and company-wide regulations, as well as regulations, specifications and standards established by industry groups, etc., and contractual duties, etc., related to information security.
  3. If the handling of information assets is entrusted to a contractor, etc., employees, etc., shall demand the implementation of the management measures required with regard to said information assets.

(note) Employees, etc.: This term means persons engaged in the business of the Furukawa Electric Group irrespective of whether they are full-time or part-time such as Directors (Members of the Board), auditors, Corporate Vice Presidents and employees (including temporary employees, temporary part-time employees, part-time employees, workers on secondment from other companies, assistants, and dispatch workers from temporary employment agencies).
