We will take the first step toward achieving the new 2025 Medium-term Management Plan.
“Drawing on more than a century of expertise in the development and fabrication of advanced materials, we will contribute to the realization of a sustainable society through continuous technological innovation.” This is the Corporate Philosophy of Furukawa Electric Group.
From our founding in 1884 through to the present day, the transmission, connection, and storage of energy, information, and heat have been the pillars of our business, and through the four core technologies of metals, polymers, photonics, and high-frequency, we are developing a wide range of technologies, products, and services around the world for the field of infrastructure, including telecommunications and energy, as well as the fields of automotive components and electronics.
Our founder, Ichibei Furukawa, left us with the words, “Value employees, value customers, value new technology, and contribute to society.” I believe these ideas are ESG management itself, which in turn is linked to the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). Guided by our founder’s words, we will come together as a group with the aim of protecting the health of people and social infrastructure, supporting growth, and realizing a sustainable society.
Since 2020, we have continued to experience a grave and unprecedented situation in which economic activity stagnated around the world due to the impact of COVID-19. At the same time, the demands from society directed at achieving the SDGs have greatly changed, including advances in the digitalization of multiple fields and initiatives aimed at becoming carbon neutral.
For us, fiscal 2022 will be the first year of the new 2025 Medium-term Management Plan. Along with developing human resources who will open up the next generation, we will create value through the pursuit of new technologies, products, and services that contribute to resolving social issues. Through these activities, we will meet the expectations of our stakeholders.
