FE Magnet Wire Employee Infected by Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)

An employee of FE Magnet Wire (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (FEMM) (Klang, Selangor Darul Ehsan, Malaysia) , a Malaysia-based subsidiary of Furukawa Electric, in their 40s, was found to be positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

After receiving a PCR test at a local medical facility on March 11 due to a fever, on the evening of March 13 the employee was confirmed to be positive for be the virus. At present, the Company has been informed that the fever is gone, and the employee doesn’t have any other symptoms and is following the instructions of local doctors at the hospital.

FEMM is implementing the following measures based on the guidance of the authorities and the Furukawa Electric Group response policy.

  • Clean the affected individual's area of activity.
  • Place staff suspected of having had close contact on standby at home.
  • Strengthen office cleaning and health management, including handwashing and gargling.

In response to this incident, the Company will cooperate with all relevant organizations to take appropriate measures.
