Revision to Furukawa Electric Environmental Targets 2030
Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. has revised Environmental Targets 2030, which serve as the medium-term targets directed at achieving Furukawa Electric Group Environmental Vision 2050.
As part of Furukawa Electric Group’s contributions to a carbon-free society and in order to achieve zero greenhouse gas emissions from business activities (Scope 1 & Scope 2) by 2050, the 2030 greenhouse gas emissions target has been revised to a reduction of 46% (compared to FY2017). We have already submitted an application to SBT Initiative with the aim of obtaining certification for this target. Also, in order to further contribute to the realization of a recycling-based society for water and resources and creation of a Circular and Ecological Sphere, we have revised the reduction targets for water, new materials and single-use plastic consumption.
We will not ignore the problem of ocean plastic pollution and the increasingly severe abnormal weather events linked to climate change in recent years, and we feel there is a need to further strengthen the related initiatives. By promoting environmental activities directed at achieving the new targets, we will contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
