Development of the functional fine metal particle PoMPFINE with a metal coating applied
- Featuring significantly enhanced semiconductor mounting reliability -
KANZACC Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Osaka-shi; President: Hisakazu Ishibashi; hereinafter, “KANZACC”), a member of the Furukawa Electric Group, has developed a functional fine metal particle PoMPFINE with another metal coating applied to the surface of the metal particles.
There are various types and diameters of metal particles that have been used in a broad range of applications, but the metal particles in the “PoMPFINE” that we have developed this time are coated with another kind of metal, creating functional particles that include new functions.
It is possible to select the type of metal, substrate particle diameter, and metal coating of the surface. Using these particles will contribute to significantly enhanced semiconductor mounting reliability. In addition, by applying surface treatment to the heat sink material and other equipment, a heat dissipation effect is expectable. KANZACC is also planning to develop a broad range of uses such as application to conductive film and the like.
KANZACC aims to implement functional fine metal particles by the second half of 2014 and anticipates sales of 100 million yen in fiscal 2016.

About Furukawa Electric Group
Furukawa Electric (TSE; 5801, ISIN; JP3827200001) Group started business in 1884, when its copper-smelting facility and wire manufacturing factory was established. Since then Furukawa Electric has become pioneers in the latest technologies by addressing diverse technological issues. Furukawa Electric has released products in a number of areas, including telecommunications, electronics, automobiles, and construction, with the three types of materials it works with at their core, namely, optics, plastics, and metals. Many of these products have attained the top global market share, and all of its products have contributed to society in numerous business areas. Furukawa Electric reported consolidated revenues of JPY 931.8 billion (approximately USD 9.3B) for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2014.
