Furukawa Electric Gives Address During "Japan-Argentina Joint Economic Forum"

Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. participated in the "Japan-Argentina Joint Economic Forum" held by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), and gave an address as a company that has contributed to the economic development of the Argentine Republic.

Background

In May 2008 the Furukawa Group established Furukawa Industrial S.A. Sucursal Argentina (Buenos Aires, Argentina), an optical fiber cable manufacturing plant, and since then has helped to build the Argentinian communication infrastructure. Furukawa Electric was given the opportunity to give an address on business development in the country, in recognition of these accomplishments.

In addition to an opening speech by Prime Minister Abe welcoming guests to the forum, many government VIPs and corporate representatives from both countries attended the forum to engage in lively discussion on investment prospects and business opportunities in Argentina.

Shunichi Nakamura, Corporate Senior Vice President at Furukawa Electric, gave an address on "contributing to the development new frontiers. Mr. Nakamura appealed widely to the domestic and international activities of the group, stating that, "Furukawa Electric continues to work everyday to provide the very best products and solutions in the constantly progressing optical telecommunication technology field. We are committed to applying the technologies we've developed over the years toward helping to develop the economy and create new industries in Argentina."
