Scope of Business Continuity Management International Standard ISO22301 Certification Expanded
- Certification obtained for copper wire products in upstream processes inside and outside the Group -
Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. has obtained ISO22301 third party certification for copper wire products. ISO22301 is an international standard for business continuity management systems (BCMS). This will be the second product category the Furukawa Electric Group has obtained certification for, following optical semiconductor device products.
Copper wire products are formed primarily from rough copper drawing wire and copper annealed wire, which are then used as electric wire materials. These products have been used by many customers inside and outside the Group since Furukawa Electric was founded in 1884 in the form of communication cables, electric power cables, magnet wire wire/electric materials, automotive wire harness cores, electronic components, and many other applications.
Due partly to changes in its external environment, the Furukawa Electric Group consolidated its two Japanese manufacturing bases within Mie Works, and there was a growing need to put strong BCMS into place to further address risks.
With this in mind the Furukawa Electric Group recognized anew that such upstream products could have a significant impact on the supply chains of its customers inside and outside the Group, and—based on its deep sense of responsibility in providing customers with peace of mind—will use this certification as a "tool" to meet the needs of its customers from a global perspective and will continue to improve its BCMS. The Group has received certification in recognition of the validity of its BCMS.
Through these efforts, the Furukawa Electric Group will continue to work to improve its corporate value as a provider of products its customer can use with peace of mind.
