The Furukawa Electric Group (“the Group” below) has recently been certified by “SBTi”(note 1) for the greenhouse gas reduction target for 2030. Our initiative to deal with the achievement of the target has being promoted throughout the group and we continue to protect the global environment and to contribute to the realization of the sustainable society.

Background

The Group has recently formulated the Furukawa Electric Group, Vision 2030: “In order to build a sustainable world and make people’s life safe, peaceful and rewarding, the Furukawa Electric Group will create solutions for the new generation of global infrastructure combining information, energy and mobility.“
On the other hand, recently, abnormal weather occurring in all around the world has exert not a little impact on the business activities of the Group, and the Group has positioned the climate change countermeasure by reducing greenhouse gas emissions as an important issue.
Therefore, in order to “build a sustainable world”, which is the first item of the Group Vision, the Group set a Science Based Target (SBT) for greenhouse gas emission reduction and applied for the 2030 target to SBTi.
