Furukawa Electric selected for the FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index

Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (Head office: 2-6-4 Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Keiichi Kobayashi) was selected for the FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index.

The FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index is an index created by global index provider FTSE Russell, which reflects the performance of Japanese companies that demonstrate outstanding Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices relative to their respective sectors and is designed to be sector neutral. To promote the transition to a low-carbon economy, companies with particularly high greenhouse gas emissions are included only if their improvement efforts are evaluated using the Transition Pathway Initiative's Management Quality Score (Note).

We have formulated the Furukawa Electric Group Vision 2030 directed at the year 2030 and are working toward “In order to build a sustainable world and make people’s life safe, peaceful and rewarding, Furukawa Electric Group will create solutions for the new generation of global infrastructure combining information, energy and mobility”. In addition, we have also formulated the Furukawa Electric Group Environmental Vision 2050 in which we declare our determination to become carbon neutral in 2050 and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society throughout the value chain through the provision of environmentally friendly products and services and recycling-based production activities. Following the current selection to the FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index, we will accelerate these initiatives and aim to achieve sustainable growth and increased medium to long-term corporate value as a company that is trusted by all stakeholders.
