Invention Invention of Heat-resistant Resin, Component, and Manufacturing Method (PAT. No. 6219268)
Inventors Masaki Nishiguchi, Arifumi Matsumura
Details of the invention The present invention relates to a new cross-linking method that enables the blending of filler with a high degree of freedom and resin component manufactured using this method. Using resin component manufactured based on this invention as cable jacketing material enables the manufacture of excellent electrical wire with multiple functions including heat-resistance, strength, flexibility, external damage resistance and workability. Such wire is expected to contribute to the following.
  • The resin component has excellent strength and external damage resistance, and the jacketing material around the wire can be reduced. This will make lead to lighter weight and lower space requirements in automobiles, electronic devices and electrical equipment
  • The flexibility and high workability will contribute to more efficient wiring work and reduced man-hours
  • The characteristics can easily be adjusted as a result of the high freedom in additive blending, such as flame retardants, making it possible to manufacture a range of halogen-free electrical wire and components

Furukawa Electric is currently using resin component achieved through this invention as jacketing material for electrical wire for electronic devices, automobiles and industrial power cable. Going forward, use of this resin component will be expanded to include electrical wire used in the renewable energy domain, including solar power and wind power, and it will also be applied to products other than electrical wire, such as tubes, packing and automobile interior materials.
