Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (Head office: 2-6-4 Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Hideya Moridaira) has published the “Furukawa Electric Group Integrated Report 2024” and “Furukawa Electric Group Sustainability Book 2024.”
Background
In accordance with the spirit of Furukawa Electric Group Purpose (“Purpose”) - “Composing the core of a brighter world.” - as defined in March 2024, the Group has been advancing ESG management aimed at increasing medium- to long-term corporate value towards the realization of “Furukawa Electric Group Vision 2030” (“Vision 2030”). With a view to promote an understanding of the Group’s initiatives and engage with our stakeholders, we have published “Integrated Report” and “Sustainability Book” since FY2020.
Details
“Integrated Report 2024” includes specific descriptions of our value creation process built towards 2030, specific measures to address key management issues (materiality) towards realizing Vision 2030, and progress towards target sustainability indicators which were defined for each materiality, among others. “Sustainability Book 2024” comprehensively compiles more detailed sustainability-related information and specific ESG activities. Going forward, we will continue to foster engagement with our stakeholders, and further advance ESG management aiming at achieving the Group’s sustainable growth and increasing its medium- to long-term corporate value.
Key Points of “Integrated Report 2024”
With respect to the management strategy for realizing Vision 2030, the Report illustrates the progress of “Furukawa Electric Group Medium-term Management Plan 2022-2025” (“2025 Mid-term Plan”), specific measures taken for optimizing the business portfolio and strengthening human capital and organizational execution abilities for business enhancement and growth, and underlying thoughts about cash allocation for increasing capital efficiency. It also includes messages from outside directors, where each director articulates their expectations for our Company towards achieving 2025 Mid-term Plan and Vision 2030 from diverse perspectives backed by their wealth of experience and expertise. Furthermore, in order for our stakeholders to smoothly navigate from Annual Securities Report to Integrated Report, we paid particular attention to the linkage with “Approach and Initiatives toward Sustainability” section in the Annual Securities Report, while improving the format.

Based on the “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” adopted by the United Nations, Furukawa Electric Group has formulated the “Furukawa Electric Group Vision 2030” which sets the year 2030 as its target and is advancing efforts with the aim to “Build a sustainable world and make people’s life safe, peaceful and rewarding, Furukawa Electric Group will create solutions for the new generation of global infrastructure combining information, energy and mobility.” Toward the achievement of our Vision 2030, we will take open, agile, and innovative approaches to promote ESG management that aims to increase corporate value over the medium to long term and will contribute to the achievement of the SDGs.
