Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (Head office: 2-6-4 Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Hideya Moridaira) has been selected by CDP, an international environmental NGO, as the highest rated “Climate Change A List” company in recognition of our excellent initiatives for climate change and related information disclosure.

Background

Furukawa Electric Group is working to strengthen ESG management aimed at increasing medium- to long-term corporate value centered on ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance) directed at realizing the Furukawa Electric Group Vision 2030. As part of these efforts, we established the Furukawa Electric Group Environmental Vision 2050 in March 2021 and have promoted activities toward contributing to a carbon-free society. We also obtained SBT WB1.5℃ certification(note) in July 2023.

Details

We have been selected by CDP as a “Climate Change A List” company based on a high evaluation of our information disclosure and transparent performance for the responses to climate change being taken by our group.
Going forward, along with working to reduce energy consumption at our offices and production sites, we will continue to effectively utilize hydroelectric power as we have done for the past century and install renewable energy including solar power. We will aim to substantially eliminate greenhouse gas emissions directed at becoming carbon neutral by 2050 and promote activities throughout the value chain toward achieving the 2030 environmental targets.

Based on the “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” adopted by the United Nations, Furukawa Electric Group has formulated the “Furukawa Electric Group Vision 2030” which sets the year 2030 as its target and is advancing efforts with the aim to “Build a sustainable world and make people’s life safe, peaceful and rewarding, Furukawa Electric Group will create solutions for the new generation of global infrastructure combining information, energy and mobility.” Toward the achievement of our Vision 2030, we will take open, agile, and innovative approaches to promote ESG management that aims to increase corporate value over the medium to long term and will contribute to the achievement of the SDGs.
