Renewal of the corporate identity

Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (Head office: 2-6-4 Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Hideya Moridaira) has set forth a new group brand logo and brand slogan “All to brighten the world” as the new corporate identity (CI) for the entire Furukawa Electric Group. Under this new brand, we will utilize our full capabilities to create new technologies, products and services that contribute to solving issues in global society, build trust by responding to the expectations of our stakeholders and realize both sustainable growth and increased corporate value.

Background

In order to become a “corporate group that contributes to solving social issues” as set forth in “Furukawa Electric Group Vision 2030”, we are working to strengthen and transform our businesses on a groupwide scale. As part of these efforts, in commemoration of the 140th anniversary of the company, we set forth the Furukawa Electric Group Purpose “Composing the core of a brighter world” in March of last year with the aim of increasing engagement throughout the group and enabling all employees to take further pride in their work. Now, directed at raising the Group brand power and strengthening the management base by promoting the Group Purpose and the business activities and initiatives based on the Purpose consistently, we have set forth a CI that utilizes the Purpose as the brand concept.

New brand logo and brand slogan

(1) Furukawa Electric Group brand logo
While carrying on the group’s history, the new logo symbolizes our intent to continue evolving. The new logo maintains the current English version but adjusting the shape of the curves on each letter that strengthens the appearance of the letters flowing into the next to represent “Composing the core” in the Purpose. Also, the stable layout promotes appeal of the strengths of our group, which has supported social infrastructure from the early days of the company, and it also represents our intent to continue rising to the future through unending corporate transformation.

(2) Brand color
The brand color is called “Furukawa Electric blue”. Along with conveying the trust built over the years, it represents “of a brighter world” in the Purpose.

(3) Brand slogan “All to brighten the world”
The slogan concisely and symbolically expresses the intent incorporated in the Group Purpose, and it uses wording from the sub statement in the English version of the Purpose. Through our group’s initiatives to address social issues and take on new challenges beyond the existing business domains, the brand slogan declares our intent to support “composing the core” that will lead to a better future (brighter world).

Future actions

We will transition from the current Japanese and English corporate logos and group logo used as the CI to the new group brand logo by 2026, as well as change the corporate message to the new brand slogan. It is then planned for each group company to successively transition to the new CI. Also, any new group company established during the period until Furukawa Electric transitions to the new CI will use the new CI.

Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. has applied for trademark registration for the Furukawa Electric Group brand logo and brand slogan logo.

Furukawa Electric Group’s efforts towards the SDGs

Based on the “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” adopted by the United Nations, Furukawa Electric Group has formulated the “Furukawa Electric Group Vision 2030” which sets the year 2030 as its target and is advancing efforts with the aim to “Build a sustainable world and make people’s life safe, peaceful and rewarding, Furukawa Electric Group will create solutions for the new generation of global infrastructure combining information, energy and mobility.” Toward the achievement of our Vision 2030, we will take open, agile, and innovative approaches to promote ESG management that aims to increase corporate value over the medium to long term and will contribute to the achievement of the SDGs.
